Picture the scene: Instead of gridlock at every intersection, traffic in the City of Tshwane’s central business district runs smoothly and easily. An unusually large number of cyclists can be seen out and about, not because there is a race on but because people choose to hop on one of the many "BCycle" rental bicycles available in the CBD.

Nkamogeleng Matloga, or Kamo as we fondly call her, is a true example of what hard work and dedication can achieve. I first met Kamo in 2019 when we were both enrolled in the data science program at Explore AI Academy. She arrived with a string of accolades under her belt, and it was clear that she was a diligent and hard-working individual.

Kamo's achievements speak for themselves. In 2020, she was awarded third place in the Tshwane Inter-university Challenge, Transport Category, and in 2019, she took home second place in the Unisa Research Awards. She is a certified data scientist, an award-winning innovator, and an entrepreneur. Kamo is currently in the Software Development track in the Women Techsters Fellowship and is the founder of BCycle SA and Hunadi Cycle Projects.

Despite her busy schedule, Kamo has also found the time to speak to organizations across South Africa, including the Unisa Business CouncilThobela FMPretoria NewsGreen AfricaWomen in Tech, and Rekord Newspaper. Her passion for social issues is evident, and she is particularly focused on addressing unemployment and women's discrimination.

As for working with Kamo, I have always loved her knack for great designs and presentations. She truly has a unique talent for making data come alive.
